Jewel. Matriclysm: An Archeology of Connections Los
2258 Calle Regina Venezia
9 May - 22 November
Award-winning visual artist and multi-platinum singer-songwriter Jewel makes her Venice Art Biennale debut with Matriclysm: An Archeology of Connections Lost, a large-scale installation presented at the Salone Verde and curated by Joe Thompson in collaboration with the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. The exhibition explores themes of motherhood, feminine power, and the relationship between humanity and nature through an immersive journey featuring paintings, sculptures, tapestries, installations, and original sound works created specifically for the project.
Among the exhibition highlights is Seven Sisters, an installation composed of seven hand-blown glass spheres inspired by the Pleiades constellation and accompanied by a soundtrack generated from astronomical data collected by NASA. Another central work is Heart of the Ocean, a monumental interactive sculpture that transforms real-time oceanographic data into a constantly evolving audiovisual experience. The exhibition concludes with First Mother, a large-scale sculpture created with artist Patrick Bongoy that reflects on motherhood and the shared origins of humanity through organic materials and symbolic imagery.
