The Next Earth. Computation, Crisis, Cosmology
2386 Fondamenta Trapolin Venezia
May 10 – November 23, 2025
The Berggruen Institute Europe
Palazzo Diedo
The Next Earth emerges as a profound inquiry at the crossroads of planetary intelligence, ecological urgency, and architectural imagination—an official collateral event of the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale that dares to rethink the future of our shared home.
Within the venerable walls of Palazzo Diedo, the exhibition weaves together the avant-garde research of Antikythera’s Planetary Sapience initiative and MIT’s Climate Work, creating a compelling dialogue between data-driven computation and visionary environmental design
Here, history and futurity collide through a tapestry of artifacts and immersive installations, inviting visitors to confront the weight of human impact and to envision a radical redefinition of sustainable architecture. Forty pioneering projects from the MIT School of Architecture stand as speculative blueprints for a world where technology and nature coalesce, fostering a new cosmology rooted in resilience and reverence for Earth.
Curated by Benjamin Bratton, Nicholas de Monchaux, and Ana Miljacki, The Next Earth challenges us not only to imagine but to inhabit an ecosystem of thought and action—where crisis becomes a catalyst for planetary wisdom and architectural innovation.
