Clément Cogitore: The Evil Eye
1351 Calle del Ridotto Venezia
May 9 – November 23, 2025
This spring, Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia unveils The Evil Eye, a striking immersive installation by acclaimed French artist Clément Cogitore, originally conceived for the 2018 Marcel Duchamp Prize. Presented as part of the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s Hors-les-murs initiative, the exhibition delves into the seductive—and often subversive—power of the moving image in our hyper-mediated age.
Merging dance, cinema, and ethnographic inquiry, Cogitore constructs a visually charged environment where ritual, identity, and spectacle converge. Through a layered assemblage of archival footage, green screen manipulation, and precise editing, The Evil Eye examines how images are used to shape desire, belief, and belonging in the digital era
With a bold, critical visual language, the work reflects on globalization, consumer culture, and the hidden choreography of urban life—offering a dystopian yet deeply human portrait of modern existence.
Part of the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s global mission to share its collection beyond the walls of its Paris home, this exhibition invites viewers into a provocative conversation between contemporary art, society, and the media landscapes that define us.
